St. Vincent Health

Looking toward the future, St. Vincent General Hospital District has embraced the concept of a health campus where specialists, primary care, Lake County Public Health Agency, and other health-related offices reside in the old hospital building and synergistically complement services in the adjacent, new hospital facility.

Occupational Health

Inpatient and outpatient Occupational Therapy at St. Vincent Health is offered by Rachel Griffin – OTD, OTR/L, ATP, and  Amy Kuitse, OTR, CLT-LANA.

After illness, injury or other health challenge, occupational therapy empowers a person to do as much as they can on their own–safely and effectively–at home, work, school and other settings. Occupational therapists can also adapt a patient’s environment to facilitate independence throughout their day.

In the hospital at St. Vincent Health, occupational therapy helps swing bed patients and inpatients recover, improve, maintain, and develop the skills they need to return to independent living and working. She assists outpatients with in-person or Telehealth appointments and has a special interest in pediatric occupational therapy.

Rachel Griffin specializes in Pediatric occupational health. Which helps patients with conditions like attention deficit disorder, autism, traumatic brain injury, seizures, cerebral palsy, anxiety, oppositional defiant disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, and more. For deficits in fine and gross motor skills, visual perception, social skills, and activities of daily living, occupational health is once again fundamental to a treatment plan.

Amy Kuitse specializes in lymphedema and edema management. Lymphedema is a condition characterized by painful swelling in the extremities (arms and/or legs). The swelling occurs when lymph nodes are no longer facilitating the proper drainage of lymph fluid from an area of the body. A person’s doctor will often refer to occupational therapy to help patients struggling with lymphedema and edema.
