Direct Access

Colorado is a direct access state, which means that obtaining a referral from a physician or other healthcare provider for physical therapy treatment is not necessary in order to receive care from a licensed physical therapist. We recommend that you confirm your treatment with your insurance company. Contact our Physical Therapy Department so that we may assist you with your insurance provider to pre-qualify for Physical Therapy.

St. Vincent Hospital Physical Therapists are wound care specialists

Doctors of physical therapy are trained in wound care services to facilitate healing of surgical wounds, skin abrasions, venous/arterial ulcers, burns, pressure ulcers, diabetic ulcers, among other wounds. We are proficient in sharp debridement and proper selection of wound care products to reduce infection and promote healing. At St. Vincent Hospital, we offer inpatient and outpatient wound care services.

In addition to sharp debridement and wound care services, we also offer negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) also known as Wound Vac Therapy. The NPWT allows for faster healing of larger wounds, surgical dehiscence wounds, decubitus pressure ulcers among others. If you or a loved one has been discharged from the hospital with a wound vac, our outpatient physical therapy department can perform your dressing changes.
